Lifecasting Tutorial w/ Keaghlan Ashley: Casting TC-1630 urethane into Alginate Mold

Home  |  Video learning  |  Polyurethanes

Special Makeup Effects Artist and former Faceoff Contestant Keaghlan Ashley stops by BJB to help produce an Alginate Lifecast of Troy’s face. We then use the Alginate mold to cast BJB’s popular TC-1630 urethane producing a durable, highly detailed sculpting form. TC-1630 is unique in its ability to cure in the presence of wet Alginate. This allows users to skip casting stone/plaster and instead quickly produce long lasting parts that can be used for making prosthetic molds (corrected positives, cores, etc), art pieces, latex bake molds, vacuum form tools, composite lay up tools, and so much more.

TC-1630 is a 1:1 mix ratio, low viscosity, filled urethane system that exhibits low shrinkage, high heat resistance, and fast turnaround. Users can make durable molds and parts in a very short time saving time and money.
